Soft-Serve Frozen Greek Yogurt Creami (High Protein, Low Sugar)
Sneak Preview: This frozen Greek yogurt is made with plain Greek yogurt, milk, and the mix-in of your choice—like peanut butter, fruit, or espresso. The Ninja Creami machine transforms it into a soft-serve-style frozen treat you can customize to your cravings and sweetness meter.

I wasn’t planning to buy a Ninja Creami (paid link). I already had an ice cream maker and wasn’t looking for another gadget to crowd my counter. But once I realized I could turn Greek yogurt into soft-serve-style frozen yogurt—with extra protein and just the right sweetness—I changed my mind.
Now I eat this frozen yogurt almost daily. It’s an easy way to consume yogurt and have a cold treat that doesn’t taste like a compromise. With high protein and minimal sugar (see note below), it makes a great dessert for my husband and I. One canister serves two–at our house, anyway.
If you are the only one who eats it, don’t worry. It stores beautifully and can be reprocessed if it firms up too much in the freezer.
NOTE: I actually don’t add any sugar, honey, or sweetener when assembling my Creami mixtures. After processing, I either add fruit or a small amount of flavored syrup ( such as salted caramel or chocolate). My husband likes a sweeter taste than I do, so this way, we can customize accordingly.

Tips That Make a Difference
- Use Fairlife or another ultra-filtered milk for higher protein.
- You can taste before you freeze, but remember, it will taste less sweet when frozen.
- Try setting the frozen creami canister in a bowl of hot water for 1-2 minutes before processing to avoid an icy layer around the side.
- Reprocess leftovers to achieve a softer texture or simply let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes until soft enough to eat.
- I recommend buying several Creami cannisters if you eat this frequently. Saves time to make batches.
FAQs
Can I use regular yogurt instead of Greek?
Yes, but the result may be slightly icier and less rich.
Do I need guar gum?
It’s not required but I recommend it for low-fat Creamis. It makes the texture creamier.
What if I don’t have an immersion blender?
Use a standard blender (especially if using chunks of fruit) or whisk well by hand.
Can I double the batch?
No, the Creami container holds only two servings (at our house). But you can prep multiple containers at once.
Can I eat leftovers later?
Yes! Freeze and respin as needed, or microwave for 30 seconds to soften.
Final Thoughts
Let’s be honest. I’m totally hooked on my yogurt Creamies—but no, they’re not as creamy or velvety-rich as that premium ice cream from the store or your favorite scoop shop. Of course, that kind of indulgence comes at a price—and not just in dollars. It takes a lot of cream and sugar to make it that rich.
Yogurt Creamies, on the other hand, are something I can enjoy every day without worrying about my jeans getting tight. I try to keep the add-ins reasonable, but I never feel like I’m missing out. They’re quick, flexible, and satisfying—like a real treat that just happens to be better for you. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll start coming up with your own flavor ideas without even trying.

This is – hands down – the very best yogurt Creami recipe! A keeper. I’ve tossed all my others.
Flexible and customizable – fresh strawberries (sliced and soaked in a slash of amaretto make a heavenly addition.
PS The guar gum is magical.
The combination of amaretto and strawberry sounds incredibly delicious!
My favorite is chocolate milk with peanut butter. Yum!
